Ernst and Else Wanke opened South Cooking Lake Greenhouses in 1958, long before their youngest son Harold came on the scene in 1962. The greenhouse became Harold's playground and his classroom; beginning a life-long passion for growing plants. He took over ownership in 1989. |

Harold's children have also benefited from their childhood experiences in the Greenhouses. You are likely to find the rest of the family around during the busy Spring Season. |

Our staff are responsible for a wide range of duties in the Greenhouse. They grow and care for the plants as well as take part in sales, which creates a diverse circle of knowledge that you won't find at bigger Garden Centres.
